Hi everyone...new chicken keeper from Central California here...just picked up 5 barred rock chicks (hopefully all pullets) yesterday. I've always wanted to keep chickens but have never had the opportunity until now...very much looking forward to learning all I can about chickens in general and the barred rock breed specifically!

They say the Australorp is supposed to be one of the better layers, and they are in my flock. But these BR's are laying WAY better than the Aussies!!
