Hello everyone! My name is Wendy, and I'm a newbie chicken lover.
I started this crazy chicken adventure when my friend (who runs our local feed store) said she had chicks that needed to be sold. I said "I want a few." I went with the intentions of buying just 4-6 birds. By the time I was done I had 12. lol I started with 3 RIRs (Bellatrix, Glo, and SusieQ), 3 light Brahmas (Everdeen, Primrose, and Pamela), 2 EEs (Katniss and Clove), and 4 buff Orpingtons (Bonita, Wanda, Rachel, and Shaye). I built an 8x8 coop for them, they have a big run, and are now free ranging from sunup to sundown. A friend gave me a little bantam seabrite something or other, who I named Professor Snape and a buff Brahma who I named Effie. Then he gave me another buff Brahma (Glimmer) and a Barred Rock (Spice). Just recently he gave me three more buff Brahmas (Luna, Fleur, and Ginny). Here are a few of the Nuggets.
More pictures of the Nuggets, and my Coop building experience, are located on my blog at http://crazychickenslady.blogspot.com/
