(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We got our first chickens about three years ago and were complete newbies then!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Now we have a total of 6 in our flock.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Cuckoo Maran: Pollo
Australorps: Lagatha and Coffee
Rhode Island Red: Kylo Hen
Buff Orpington: HeiHei
White Leghorn: Mavis and Moo (deceased)
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
The eggs! And they’re funny.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Running, reading, board games, hiking and spending time in the mountains.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My husband and I have one son who was born in October 2017. He loves the chickens! We also have 2 dogs and a cat. I teach middle school and my husband is a fire alarm electrician.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I joined to get advice and help with raising chickens. When we got our first chickens, we had no idea what we were doing! I appreciate the help you all have given me- you were so helpful that we added 3 more birds to our flock this past spring!
