Hello from CT! I used to have a small flock of plymoth barred rock hens (got them in the summer of 2020), but I unfortunately lost them all this fall thanks to a predator who snuck it's way into the coop :( . I'm planning to start up a new flock again, and I'm looking to get ISA Browns this time around. I'm looking forward to connecting with other chicken owners!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Sorry for your losses. What have you done to predator proof your coop?
Why switch from PBRs? They are a fabulous breed!
Thank you! :)

For starters, I've decided to scrap the old coop that my dad had built. We're thinking of converting a shed that we have into a coop for better protection. Still doing some research on that.

I definitly think that PBRs are great, and I had originally chosen them over the ISA Browns because of the fact that they are a dual purpose breed, and are very docile birds. Over time though I realized that an egg layer breed would be more suited for me. I also heard that they are total sweethearts!
