Howdy guys and gals!
I guess I'll start off from saying I'm from a teeny tiny town in East Texas, just outside of Trinity (which is also small) and Lovelady (Smaller still, haha.)
I have over 50 chickens, and I love them dearly. Piggy, my Americauna and only egg layer, and Ducky her bitty. Baldy, Trinity, Caluck, Rooskie, Derby, and JackA** are a few of my Claret chickens. My clarets are a game breed, that I aquired from my uncle since he can no longer fight them. I don't have to keep my males separated, they're on a three acre plot and have plenty of room for their girls without a need to fight over them! Piggy was raised in my house, and thinks she belongs in it. When the dogs come in, Piggy comes racing in too. Her bitty, Ducky, will unfortunately be the same way as she is also being hand raised. I had a GSL rooster, Earl, that recently had to be culled for attacking my game chickens. He was so much bigger he was killing them.
I have three horses. Mama, my mustang. Maya, my trakehner, and Oakley, my TB. They are my children and I couldn't live without them.
Four dogs, Trixie, Titan, Blue, and Queenie. A heeler, a ridgeback, and two curr puppies.... they just make my mixture of pets look like an oddball collection.
As of today, I have over 20 cats. Why? I didn't spay my three new girls when I got them and they all delivered within days of each other. My permanent cats are, however, Tufty, Camel, Dyno, DeeDee, Annie, and Daisy.
I also have parakeets, fish, and god knows what else I'm forgetting.
I have been raising chickens all my life, and have never spent a day without them. I recently gained an interest in show and have 15 Black Austerlorps[sp] heading my way the third week of may as well as five Gold Sex Link hens. The austers will be their own special run, and the GSL's will be next door.
Just thought I'd say hello from here in Glendale!
