Hello to all,
I thought I would join up on here as it looks like a lot of fun.My partner (who also joined up today) and I keep a variety of chickens and some ducks. They are gradually taking over and we are very fond of them.We are relative beginers and have learnt through trial and error..We were left - quite by chance Frizzles,Arucanas (supposed to be..),marans,plymouth rocks, white sumatras,O.E.Gs (which I love), runner ducks, welsummer bantams and some laying hens. This was a lot for a beginer, but 18 months later we are quite hooked. The runs are getting bigger and we have started breeding the Sumatras and Frizzles as pure breeds and mixing the maran and rhode island hens with our Plymouth cock bird so we can have some hybrid laying hens. The sad reality has struck us about how to deal with the boys though. We are not looking forward to that. All other parts of keeping these guys is great and they are so lovely to have around. We wouldnt be without them now.
