Howdy ya'all!! I am a recent resident of Lebanon, OR and I am in town raising 4 backyard cluckers whom I love and adore like insane amounts. One is a mixed Americana with Rhode Island Red and one is a Barred Rock and the two sex links, one red and one black. They rock!! I love them

and they are laying 3 eggs a day. We built them a coop with recycled lumber from my neighbor who is a contractor and brings us scraps home.

this was from last spring when we got our chicks! I am currently thinking of getting some quail too!

I joined because I love my chickies and want to learn more and findout if I am the only one that has chickens that do the crazy wacko things they do... LOL

Thanks for the welcome, I am excited to learn more, I just hope I dont end up with more birds than I can handle! I tend to be a collector, and I need to have some discipline being that I have such a small space and close neighbors.

I wish I had more space, the 5 chicks I got last spring turned out to have 4 roosters, they were so beautiful, I wanted to keep them, but alas.... coockadoodling in the morning in downtown is a no no..... I seriously contemplated having a go at slaughtering one at 5am the morning it decided to practice... but instead to him to a farm that afternoon.

I know of a great place to get young, healthy hens in Monmouth if any Oregonians are in need of hens too.... and one of my best friends is outside of Lebanon and has loads of chickens, she supplies free range organic eggs to a restaraunt in Corvallis... very cool folks, in fac I am heading over there today to talk about quails with her and see if we can get some together. I love the birdies.... yay!!
