My husband and I are working on plans for our chicken coop...we are interested in raising both chickens and turkey ( ANY advice on this idea would be so helpful...good breeds that do well together, anything at all, even coop design and raising them either together or separated)!! We came across this site by accident and loved it! We are here to get ideas and good advice! I love all that I see here and am happy to be a new part of your community!

Greetings from Kansas, kwalker, and

! Great to have you with us! I have a flock of 19 birds composed of 11 different breeds - chickens usually get along well if you get them as chicks. Generally, turkey and chickens are raised together (in the same pen at least) due to a disease the turkey gets called blackhead. Type the word blackhead in the BYC search bar and read the various threads. While many folks raise mixed flocks of turkeys and chickens, It is a good thing to research up on beforehand. Below are some links you also may find useful to get you started. Good luck on your journey and have fun!!
