Hello friends.
I am new to this group. I had my first chicken in 10th grade, about 30 years ago!! (It was a class school project for my little brother and he WON the biddy to take and raise) We had her for 7+ years. in town, and she was a family pet. Back then she could run the sidewalks, chase cars, scare the neighbors dogs and lived life to the fulliest. AND LAID EGGS

Later I had 13 acres, free ranging chickens, (horse, pony, ducks, dogs, cats, sheep) They all got along for 10 or so years. Got divorced and moved in to town and have missed nothing more than my chickens. I finally talked my WonderNewDH into letting me get 2 chickens. We have a smaller yard, 4 rescue dogs, 3 rescue cats and my two new chickens (born at easter but I just bought them about 5 weeks ago.) BTW, the chickens are separated and safe at a friendly distance.

I found this group b/c my chickens stopped laying eggs once I got them and I have gotten some great advice from a lot of folks already.

Glad to meet you all and have the chance to introduce myself.

Hello and Welcome from Michigan. Glad to hear that you were able to get some chicks again and glad you joined. I was raised being round chickens all my life (grandparents farm) and have always wanted to get some for we live in the country. I just decided this spring that it was now or never. They have been so much fun for my family especially my kids!!
