(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We got our first hens in summer of 2021. We started with 3. I’m relatively new and have much to learn.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We now have 17 hens and 3 Roos.
(3) What breeds do you have?
We have 4 Isa Browns. 5 Cinnamon Queens, 2 Calico Princess, 3 Easter Eggers, 2 Americaunas, 3 Roos and one mystery hen.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love watching them and of course the eggs.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I love my veggie garden and I homeschool my kids.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We are hoping to turn our suburban home into a mini Beartaria homestead. We’ve converted the front lawn into a nice veggie garden. Our backyard houses our flock and some more veggie plots. I’m a middle aged mom to 4 kids ranging in ages from 11-21. My husband is a school teacher.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
