Hi there everyone!
My name is Sophie and I am from London, England!
I study Animal Management at college and I will be studying Animal Behaviour and Welfare at university this September! I am a volunteer animal trainer at a zoo and I get to work with Blue and Gold Macaws, Andean Coatis, Binturongs, Amazon Parrots, Californian Sea lions, a Blue-winged Kookaburra and Ring-tailed Lemurs!
I have two ducks - Ham (A female Khaki Campbell) and Lily (a female Aylesbury).
Ham is two and a half years old and she has a permanently droopy wing as she broke it in November 2010 right on the joint but she is coping well! I got her when she was 6 weeks old.
Lily is 7 months old an a right handful - not only is she about 4 times larger than Ham, but she is also imprinted on Humans, so as you can imagine, it is quite stressful having her but I love them both to bits! I got Lily when she was 6 months old.
Sadly, Lily has only joined our family because my other duck, Daisy was killed by a fox in January 2011. It was very tragic, but I rescued Lily from a farm where she was kept on concrete 24 hours a day and was bullied a lot because the male to female ratio was wrong.
I had a rooster for one day, but I couldn't stand the cock-a-doodle-dooing at 4 in the morning so I had to take him back!
I am definatly a bird person and I look forward to reading these posts!
