Hi, everyone!

I'm a current Floridian looking forward to a move this summer to a much friendlier backyard chicken city, Atlanta. The city I currently live in keeps saying "no" to our pleas and is clearly uneducated about poultry keeping. It's so heartbreaking.

Luckily, we will be looking for two girls to add to our family later this year. I'm a single mom with a twelve year old daughter, two dogs, and a parrotlet. We have waited, patiently, for years to have the opportunity to keep chickens.

We are both pescetarians, so although do not consume meat we do love eggs and use them often. Our days of buying fresh eggs from the farmer's market are numbered, and it's a good thing!

Our dogs, however, eat the BARF diet. Raw chicken back is a staple. Honestly, handling chicken meat was always something I disliked when preparing human meals, I can't believe I don't think twice while butchering a carcass for my dogs.

Originally, I signed up to address some concerns about having dogs on raw diet while keeping pet chickens; am I asking for trouble, ya know? But the more I think about it, I need a good community to help with my research of care, breeds, and housing plans. So here I am! And I'm stoked to be here! ;)
