Hello from Florida!!

Hi Everyone!!

I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Nicole and I live on the east coast of Florida "The Treasure Coast" area. I am new to the whole raising chickens. My husband has done a lot of research and I thought this site would be my way to work on my own.

We currently don't have any chickens and would like to get a few (maybe 3 at the most). My husband is interested in having chickens for eggs.. and I think our teenage daughter should participate in 4H with one. I have not looked into the 4H part of things, so hopefully some of you could help me out and point me in the right direction on those grounds. I will look more into this myself, however any help would be much appreciated.

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan

If you are thinking showing the birds, make sure you get show-quality (SQ) birds, and not those from a hatchery (they are often good layers and producers but usually do not have the right look for showing).
