HELLO! From Illinois

Hi Everyone,
I'm from Illinois, and live in a far south suburb of Chicago, with just a small piece of the country.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Not new to chickens really. We have had them for the past 19 or so years. Started out with a very nice pair of Sebright Bantams and it grew from there.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? Right now we have 15 chickens. 14 hens and 1 happy roo.

(3) What breeds do you have?
We have buff orpingtons, a few barred rocks, some black austrolopes, a rhode island red and a white rock

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I found your website from an article about chickens in the Chicago Tribune.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Gardening, cooking and sewing.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Married, 5 kids, 1 son-in-law, 4 dogs, 2 cats. Husband is a carpenter and I'm a part time seamstress full time homemaker.

Welcome to BYC, you can learn a lot at this website. The folks on here are great when it comes to help for your chicken questions/problems. Plus you can do a search for almost any topic you might need help on.

I'm in Oklahoma, got my first chickens March 12 this year. I have 25 RIR hens, 1 RIR roo, 1 EE roo (old guy) 3 English Banty roos,
3 buff orp hens who are laying now, 1 little black sex link hen, 1 quail banty hen, 1 seabright banty hen, and two little white banty hens whom I think are Leghorns.

Anyway, going to get some goats and some geese this fall, got to get their pen/house done first.

Thanks everyone for the nice welcome. I have already found a ton of great info. I don't know everything about chickens and it seems like with all the knowledge here I should have no problem finding answers.
