Hi everyone. I have been hanging out on BYC for a while. This is my first post though. We have had our little flock since March and we just love them. It has had it's trying moments, but well worth the loopty loops on the learning curve. Our chickies are very patient.

We thought about raising chickens last year but didn't do anything with the idea. This year our 10 yr old asked to join 4H and show chickens. So, off on the chick search we went. We wanted small. We wanted friendly. So we chose Seramas. Princess insisted on a Silkie too. They are so sweet!

As soon as I post this, I am going to look for a thread on colors. We have search and researched, we have asked other 4Her's, and still we do not know what colors to call our chickens. Hopefully someone can help with identifying colors? Then there is the size issue that has us questioning our chicken's breed. When we bought them we thought we were talking to an experienced breeder. We surely had "chicken dummies" stamped on our forehead. Don't take this wrong because we love all of our chickens, but we definitely did not get what we asked for. Pretty sure our Seramas went through the "supersized" line.

Happy to finally be active here on BYC and hoping to make some new friends

serama's are divided by weight. There are several threads concerning them but I think one of the largest is "American Seramas" - you could put that in the search box and it should pop up. I think they could fill you in on everything you need to know about showing, etc. sizes, allowable colors
