My love for chickens started many, many years ago, when they would sell dyed chicks at Easter. My mom would buy me one, I would raise it for a few weeks until it became too big for the house and it then went to my Aunt's house with her chickens. I have always wanted some, so this year, I got a few. A guy at work ordered some chicks, so I added to his order. He then talked me into a few more! I have 3 Buff Orpingtons (Helen, Edna and Stella); 2 Black Australorps (Martha and Frances) and one Blue Laced Wyandotte (Clara). Clara the Wyandotte came with alot of other chicks and was put in with about 70 others who then trampled her (hopefully a HER). Since another guy I work (he raises pigeons) said she wasn't eating and was going to kill her, I took her home with my other 5 and found out she limped! She was eating, drinking, pooping and otherwise seemed fine except for the limping. After about a week and a half, she was fine and has turned into my favorite! We have a 4 x 4 coop and an attached run and they are about 6 weeks old now. We love watching them and their antics! I've been married for almost 30 years, we have one Golden Retriever, 2 black cats and one tuxedo cat along with the chickens. We love all our animals! I really enjoy BYC and have learned alot already but do have a few other questions. I'll be popping over to some of the other forums to see if anyone else has posed the same questions. Great site - keep up the good work!
