HI!
I have been raising chickens for some time and just joined the group. I am trying for some different coloring with different breeds and find that my most favorite breeds are silkies, bantams, and Brahma's along with Java's and Old English game.
the story I have is of an Old English Game rooster who I dubbed Chucky Plucky....when we bought the farm he was an addition who lived in the woods in a pine tree. I started feeding him and he became quite a character. I got him a mate and he was in 7th heaven. One year a bantam hen hatched out some chicks in the barn and trying to save her chicks became dinner for some preditor, when I got there in the morning she was dead and the chicks were running around the barn...I caught all but one who ran out into the woods...I thought "well that's the end of that one" when Chucky ran out into the woods and brought it back....Amazing tale but true....Chucky after many years on the farm met his fate when he fell behind the hay and died....
Once I had a Brahma hen that I was going to take to a swap and she decided she was going to stay here for life...flew o ut of the pen only to be found back inside after we got back home......
