I'm not exactly new, but I realized I've never actually introduce myself!
I started out with a flock of 12 chickens, but now have 43 and am planning to add more this spring!! :) I'm finally finally FINALLY gettings some silkies!! I have wanted them since BEFORE I ever got chickens! I'm so excited! Besides chickens, I like to be craftsy and do art.
See ya'll around!

Even though you have been active here let me officially welcome you to BYC.

Welcome (formally) to BYC. Glad you decided to (formally) join our flock. I think you will love Silkies. They are adorable, sweet, gentle, friendly, and funny little birds. :o)

Welcome to BYC. I think you will love silkies BUT, other breeds usually bully and peck them because they look so different. You may need to have a coop and run separately for them. Also with big crests obscuring their vision, and the fact that they don't fly - they shouldn't ever be free ranged, they are sitting ducks for predators.

Yup, I am aware of that, and so have a back-up plan in case they need to be separated. I haven't however heard that they shouldn't be free ranged. What about with supervision?

Thanks for the greetings everybody!! :)
