My name is Chris..

Tho I was raised in a farm in Puerto Rico, I'm new to chicken.. I left the farm when I was 13 yrs old.. I'm 62 now (will be 63 on July 13th, but we don't want to talk about that until 'after' July 13th, ;-))

I have a duck and a chicken.. I bought them from some people that bought a batch of eggs of a certain type of chicken, only two were different, Elizabeth, the grey chicken and Larry, the black duck.. I'm not sure of the breed, but I can find out..

I searched for the forum in the net, I knew there had to be a chicken forum (there are for tropical fish..

My other hobbies are: reading, collecting and breeding ornamental tropical fish, build scale plastic models (war air crafts and helicopters..

I'm a retired insurance agent.. Live in Lakeland, FL.. I have four daughters and five grandchildren..

Thanks for letting me in the forum, I'm looking forward to learning more about chicken (and ducks), and meeting new friends..

How do you like to live around Lakeland? We would like to move there in the next few years. We want to growth about 15 trees like mango, dragon fruit, coconut, fig, pear, plum, avocado, etc.. The biggest concern are hurricane, tornado, and flood. Are Lakeland, Polk Cigy, and Plant City have that issue?
