I am new to Washington and new to chicken ownership. I had great plans to start with a few older pullets this summer but was unable to resist 4 bantam chicks, so we are now chicken owners! We have 2 ameraucanas and 2 partridge rocks and if we are lucky, only one roo in the group. We will be adding to the flock soon, so I hope to connect with other islanders to talk chicken. We are a family of 2 adult and 2 little boy humans, 2 big mutt dogs, 5 cats indoor, outdoor and in between, 3 old retirement llamas and now chickens. Thats the headcount at the moment, but knowing me it can change in an instant!

Welcome to BYC! I live on the Olympic Peninsula so we aren't that far apart. I have 5 chicks; 2 Buff Orps, 1 Barred Rock, 1 Easter Egger, and 1 Mystery Chick that I'm hoping doesn't turn out to be a roo. No ordinances against it where we live just picky (and very vocal) neighbors. My chicks are almost 4 weeks, 1 is about 5-6 weeks. They crack me up. One will suddenly make a real chicken noise and they all freeze - including the noise maker.

Glad you joined!

Diane
