(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes, pretty new. I work at a therapeutic preschool and a mother of one of my students gave me chicks this past May.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
16

(3) What breeds do you have?
4 the original chicks I was given which some barnyard mixes like a buff or red rock purchased 6 Easter Eggers and then my mom decided she didn't want to deal with winter chicken keeping this year and gave me her 6 silver laced wyandottes

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
As I googled different topics, this site had the most information and kept popping up.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I also have some freshwater aquariums at home and at school that I love. I enjoy knitting and crocheting from time to time. I love to read and watch a lot of movies. Movie watching goes well with knitting and crocheting so it's usually a win win.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am a married mom of four kids who are getting older now so I have al ittle more free time.

I plan on posting some question on here over the weekend about my coop but I'd like to explore some of the ideas that I have read on here first. Thank you to so many helpful people on her who post about so many things. I've already learned a lot.

G’Day from down under MMarieB :frow Welcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

Personally, I have found the Topic of the Week articles a great resource and a one stop shop for questions which may have already been discussed within the BYC membership group.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Best wishes for a bright and cheerful Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Thank you so much for the tips! It would be great to meet others who don't mind "talking chickens" because I might have tortured my family a bit too much.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and yours as well!
