Howdy, just found this site today and took all day to get to discover this newbie section.

I am a nearly 60 YO remodeling contractor on an island in Maine.
We had about 18 chickens 25 years ago in CO delivering 12-15 eggs a day, with two roosters. They were Black autrolorps and Barred rocks from Murray McMurray.

Also, the family had chickens for a couple years when I was small. But I don't have too many fond memories of that due to aggressive roosters that seemed larger than I was.

Because I contracted Lyme Disease back in '06. I now have some Guineas and built a coop with chickens in mind for next spring.
No sooner finished it than a relative who is having dog problems offered his half dozen chickens to me.

Getting excited.
I was buying eggs from a neighbor and can hardly eat the runny bland store bought eggs any more, but alas, said neighbor lost most of his birds to a dog. Should have mny flock to start merging in a few days now
