Hello all. I am a brand new chicken mommy! I never ever thought I would have chickens but I babysat an incubator for a friend while she was on vacation and the babies hatched on our watch! My girls and I got to watch them emerging from their shell and we were instantly in love! We decided to keep the first two hatchers and maybe hatch a few more later in the spring but some how we ended up at the local farm store and magically our two became 6! Not sure how it happened but we're awfully excited that it did. I am now the proud mama of two generic red chicks (? Road island red?) Peepers and Buttercup, one black silkie Blackberry, Daisy a delicate white Japanese bantam, Tiny a black and white Bantam with a huge personality, and Lucy a white Cochin. I am deep into coop and enclosure plans and am loving all the great advice from all the BYC members. Thank you to you all!
from Ohio. So glad you joined. Congrats on your new chicks. Chicks are like potato chips, it is hard to stop at a couple.
