I've already posted a few times and finally realized that perhaps I should introduce myself.
I'm a homeschoolin' mama of 4 children trying her hand at homesteading in the suburbs.
Though I don't have any chickens yet, this isn't a new idea for me. I've been trying to gently convince my husband of their awesomeness for the past five years, which means I've read pretty much every book/website on the subject. Now I just need some hands on practice! My husband has finally warmed a bit to the idea and told me to get the ball rolling, but--wouldn't you know it--our city changed its ordinances just 4 months before the husband's change of heart.
Now I'm trying to work my charm on the officials while simultaneously planning/building our coop and run in our tiny backyard. Hope springs eternal, right?
