Hello, I decided to stop being a lurker and join in the discussions!
We got our first chickens about a year ago, tried free-ranging them, lost a couple due to illness, the fox got two
.... and now I have one left from that group. Buff Orpington rooster who likes to wake me in the morning before I truly want to wake up.
Also decided to try guineas to control the ticks last summer and fared better with them - two of the original three are alive, the darn fox got one last month. She escaped from the castle.
(Almost) back to the drawing board with new chickens, 12 Black Copper Marans chicks from California. They are about to graduate from the garage to the outdoors, once the youngest two have all their feathers.
So....... I look forward to participating in some quality discusions soon, although I will probably be more a taker than a giver at first
