Hello I am so excited to see this site, i love being able to come here for all my chicken advice!
I'm sort of new to chickens, i got my first batch last year. And i have one brand new one today, and 3 more hatching. So i have 4 full grown hens and a rooster. Plus hopefully 4 more. I have one australorp, 2 leghorns, and a miniature rooster and hen.
I never knew how much i liked chickens until i had them, and now i consider them to be one of my favorite animals.
We enjoy watching them grow, play and just cluck around the yard. We also have 5 cats and a large dog. I can't believe how they all get along so well.
I am mostly a stay at home mom, and i homeschool my daughter who is 6. I also have a 18 month old son. Animals are a huge contribution to the kids learning. Someday i hope to also have goats, and pigs too. I'd like to have some of everything, but i don't think we have enough room around here to have it all. We love animals, art, photography, music, dancing, swimming, and being outside.

And we love chickens!!

Greetings from Texas! It sounds like you've got your hands full with cats, dog, kids and chickens. You're absolutely right about the rich learning experiences that kids get from raising chickens. One of the reasons we have chickens is for the benefit of visiting grandchildren.
