Hi Everyone,

I am new to chickens. I don't have any Yet and may not get them this year but for sure next year as I want to get all my ducks (opps) in a row. I purchased a fish shanty that was made too large and was too difficult to move around on the ice, hehehehe, so they sold it.

I forget the dimensions but it has a bench on one long side and a door in the middle of the opposite long side. There is a long hole cut out of the floor as they were going to spear fish and not just use a rod and bobber.

My plan is to cut the floor out completely. Oh, the walls are lined with foam board as is the ceiling. I am going to put a window opposite the door and some hatch boxes in on the bench seat. In the corners, I plan on placing some roosting dowles or tree limbs for them to roost upon.

I am hoping this is all good.

Am looking forward to learning for everyone here!

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Ha! I just got off the phone with a friend I had not talked with in a while and naturally, we talked chicken, hehehehe.

She is excited for me as well. Will spend the summer remodeling the shanty and making sure it's comfortable.

This time next year -CHICKENS!
