My name is Bobbi and I am fairly new to chickens. Our first 4 chickens were hatched March 12th and we purchased 8 more a week later. The whole flock is now fully feathered and we are starting to acclimate them from indoor brooders to the garage and then hopefully within another week or two into their very own chicken coop with a full run.

Our sweet family of ladies includes: 2 Rhode Island Reds - Stripe and Sydney, 2 Buff Orpingtons - Peeps and Buffie (aka CU for Colorado University Buffs), 1 Delaware - Delilah; 1 Americauna - Vash; 2 Buff-laced Polish - Madonna and Rapunzel; 2 Golden-laced Polish - Little Einstein and Belle; 1 White-crested black Polish - Lady Gaga; and 1 Silver-Laced Polish - Mother Gothel (aka Dufus).

The first 6 of our girls were named by my 25 year old daughter, Katelyn, who is in the Air Force in Langley, VA and my 23 year old son, Tristan, who lives with us and helps us to maintain the household and chores. The 6 Polish girls were named by my 3 year old granddaughter, Holiday.

I first ran across the BYC's website whilst "Googling" chickens. This was back in the spring of 2011 and I had already missed the opportunity to purchase stock from the feed store. So I decided (with the helpful suggestion from hubby) to spend a little time researching chickens to find out a little "know how" on raising chickens before I just jumped into it with both feet. I love BYC! It is very informative and the members are helpful and can be quite entertaining.

I am a wife to my husband of 27 years and we have 4 children. Sean-Michael - 30 who is currently in Ukraine filming a documentary; Lindsay 28 - who is an RN working on her masters in Midwifery; Katelyn 25 USAF, and Tristan 23 - Art and Philosophy Student. My blessing in my "older years" is my 3 yr old granddaughter, Holiday and another grandbaby due in October. I am mommy to Charlie Bear, my Bichon Frise dog and I work full-time as a property preservation technologist.

Other than our "girls," my other hobbies include knitting, crocheting, sewing, reading and traveling.

I live in the beautiful state of Colorado approximately 50 miles east of the Rocky Mountains. I have a wonderful view of the front range and wake up every morning to spectacular sunrises and have my breath taken away in the evenings to some of the prettiest sunsets imaginable.
