Hello!
My wife and I (and really, my 4 year old son) are going to be raising some chickens this year. We have 8 ladies and I have been using this site to get started. We live in Northern MN on an acreage that came with an okay coop. I plan on fixing it up a bit. We plan on butchering most of the chickens this fall.
I am looking forward to all the insight from this site!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. Raising chickens is a wonderful experience for children. My granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) loves our chickens. Be sure that your coop is predator proof. There is a good article at http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/2013/07/11-tips-for-predator-proofing-chickens.html on predator proofing your chickens. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. What kind of hens do you have?

Good luck with the butchering in the fall! I've never raised meat chickens before (and have only had to cull a couple of birds), but this year I'll be raising meat birds for the first time.

Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We'll be happy to help in any way we can!

Hello and Welcome to BYC! Glad you joined us! We have raised meat birds before, but not recently, we now raise our extra cockerels for meat. I have to say, homegrown chicken is the best!
