No lurking here, just a new guy diving into the idea of having fresh quail eggs daily in my mini backyard orchard.
Can't wait to get started and quite excited to read all the knowledge and vast experience on the forums.

Thanks everyone.

QuailEggs?! What do you do with them? Boil, scramble,fry.........? I have a few quail but they are mostly pets! Welcome by the way!

Hello and welcome to BYC

Glad you joined us!

The eggs are quite creamy and different from chicken, granted I need a lot more to make a decent omelet.
I believe I just found a source for button quail which means I will need probably 12 eggs for a light breakfast. :D
I'm hoping they can be tractored and they like little insect critters.
Still everything I read suggests easy to care for, very independent and no hassles with city inspectors.

Adds up to awesome for me!

We mostly cook with ours. Makes a tasty pound cake! We have a few cotournix quail and boy are they curiously feisty! I swear that quail are evolved Raptors! I always wanted Button Quail, there super cute, but we lost half our normal sized quail to a snake so I can't imagine.....We had ours in tractor for a little while, It was pretty cool!!
