I've only ever raised my Black Australorp(who sadly lost a fight with my grandma's German Shepherd. RIP Fluttershy) so I guess you can call me a beginner. Haha. So I now have a baby silkie chick that I'm in love with. So I'm here for advice on how to care for little Bonnie to the best of my ability. Thank you.

for one thing keep grandma's dog away from your silkie. They don't fly , can't see well with their big crests and it won't put up as much of a fight as the australorp may have.

Will you get a buddy or two for the silkie? Chickens are flock animals and do better with others.

Keeping them separated wont be a problem since the dog is fenced up at one end of the yard and my Australorp decided to be curious and jump it. And yes my sister has her chick and we keep them together. They're butt buddies and are very much attached as they practically grew up together. I don't know what breed the other chick is because we got her from my uncle but we will sooner or later. She's black with a white underbelly and white freckles on her face. I'm guessing barred rock.
