Just got my first 6 beautiful girls today! 2-Buff Orpingtons, 2-Plymouth Rocks, and 2 RIR. They had a 4 hour drive back to their new home, but did wonderfully and did not seem stressed at all! I played them some soothing symphony music on satellite radio and they seemed to enjoy it. Has anyone else played music for your hens? I just couldn't stop watching them once we got them home. I love them already! Day 1....perfect! Nice to meet all of you and thanks to all on BYC for sharing information that helped me pick my perfect hens.

welcome from Washington!
Never heard of playing music, does it give them more eggs.

Not sure if it helps with laying, but they sure enjoyed it for the long ride to their new home. They were calm and relaxed while the music was playing, but restless if I turned it off. :D

Hello :frow and Welcome to BYC! Pretty colored flock you have there, sounds like you have already found Chicken Television, can't stop watching it. I don't play music for my birds, but some people on BYC have mentioned leaving a radio playing in their coop to scare predators.
