My husband Dan informed me that these were my chickens and he didn’t want anything to do with them. Now, three years later, they are his girls and he spoils them!

I traveled for work for two years and I’m reconnecting with my little flock. I’m also relearning how to keep them healthy. I have one with vent gleet and one with bumble foot so I’m trying to get as much information on how to treat them as possible.

Thanks for being such a great resource for us newbies and our precious girls.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

So glad you decided to join us. Lots of people say that, hubbies want nothing to do with our chickens. Then later on its "hands off", they are his! :gig Glad you are enjoying your flock!

Make yourself at home here and if you have any questions about anything, be sure to ask.

Welcome to our community!

Welcome. @janiedoe told me about using PRID for bumblefoot and it worked remarkably for my silkie that got bumblefoot (I think because she is at the bottom of pecking order and gets chased all of the time). Bring your bumblefoot chicken in if possible. Put PRID on the bumble and wrap - wait a few days until the nodule is easy to remove or pop. Then disinfect and rewrap - healing takes about 3-4 days. Also, for vent gleet, I clean and then use monistat.
