Hello, My name is Stefanee. This past March I started talking about getting 25 chicks to raise. My (I stress MY) plan was to cull out the roos in the fall. Leave it to me to think...lol. We currently have somewhere around 80 chickens in varying ages. The youngest are about 4 weeks old and are supposed to be Aracaunas, they may be, but they are all tailed. I have a dozen of those. The newest additions are 5 - 18 mo old Silver Spangled Hamburgs. I hope they are molting, cuz otherwise they are just pitiful looking! They are still laying tho'. We have a RIR rooster, 5-6 RIR pullets, a total of 10 Welsummers (3wks apart in age, 2 are roos) 10 or 12 Red Sex Links, 12 or 13 Buff Orps pullets, 3 Buff Orp hens, 3 Black Australorp hens, an EE Roo with 3 (used to be 4) EE hens, and 9 Ameraucana/EE hens, 2 pullets and a roo of what could be an Aracauna GLW mix, 3 Silver Ameraucana pullets (we call them eagles) and 1 lone white unknown breed pullet that my daughters professor sent home with her at Easter. I am sure I missed somebody, OH! a dozen barred rocks about 7-8 weeks old. Not quite sure on the math, I'm probably off by a few. lol
We also have 3 dogs-, 3 cats (with 4 kittens) and 4 children. I have trouble keeping track of them as well....
This is my first experience with chickens, although my husband grew up around them. He certainly has displayed talents that he had kept well hidden until now. Like his ability to use a hammer and nails! Took me 14 years to catch on to that one! LOL Anyway, I am glad to meet you all, and look forward to learning and sharing.
