Hello all
I have been browsing this site for a few days and found a lot of interesting information so I decided to join up. I took the kids to the local TSC store the other day for a few things and they had the chicks out...of course they wanted some...
We haven't got any yet but I do plan to get some birds in the near future once we can thing ready for them here at home. The kids are excited and I'm thinking this could be a fun project for us all.
I have raised bird before...a few decades ago... when I was a kid in middle school/high school. I had the incubators, brooders, the whole nine yards. I used to raise Courtunix and Bobwhite Quail as well as some Mallards. I had great parents that never seemed to say no when I had a hair brained scheme about raising animals even though we were (and still am) right in the middle of the city. I think it was a good way to teach about life (and sometimes death) as well as personal responsibility needed in caring for something that is dependent on you. I hope to pass some of these same lessons on to my kids as well.
I hope to learn a lot here and contribute a bit from my own experiences as well.
