I've been reading and reading. Wanted a mix of layers, dual-purpose and a heritage breed. 3 months seems like Forever!

Well you did your homework.

Yes 3 months would seem like forever! But May is a warmer month to ship chicks in and you will be very ready for them by then.

You are going to love the Black Australorps. They are a very friendly, docile bird. They can be very affectionate as well. Mine follow me around like drooling puppies and beg to sit on my lap. I can't sit down or even stoop in the run without them trying to get on my lap! Just love my Aussies!

I'm very excited about the Austrolorps! I've read they're some of the best and friendliest layers out there. It's going to be a really long 3 months but I want to be prepared and it will be warmer for the babes...

That sounds like a very nice arrangement of chickens you have on order. Australorps are great layers and are also very friendly. Hope they arrive safely!
