I just joined this sight. I have browsed the sight many times. I am the proud owner of 3 African geese, 2 ducks, 2 black turkeys and 7 chickens (2americanas, 2 doms, 2 Rhoade islands and 1 mix. I love my birds but between the wild birds and mice it cost a fortune in feed. Not to mention the bad things they carry. I hope to learn how to solve these problems from here.

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Lovely mixed flock you have there a great mix. Yes the wild birds and mice can be a real pain. I have my chickens in covered runs and remove the feeders on a night so the mice can't come out to eat all the chicken food. I also have bait boxes for vermin around so they hopefully get the bait so I can keep the numbers down.
Drop by the predators and pests section of the forum for more help on other methods. Here is the link https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/13/predators-and-pests

Good luck and hope you enjoy BYC :frow

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Here here...down in the south central mountains of New Mexico!! Where abouts are you?

Definitely keep the mice and wild birds out of the feed and water. Both of these carry dangerous diseases. My flock contracted MS from wild birds. Nearly lost the entire flock. Took a year to clean them up. So do your best to keep these critters away from your birds.

Great to have you aboard and welcome to our flock!
