As I post this, my kids are watching "Chicken Run"...does that say anything about me?
I am a newbie to the chicken world, having gotten chicks in April. I fell in love with the Buff Orpingtons, and now have 6 - I think one is a rooster. Well, I know one is, but I think only one! We also have 6 Ameracaunas, 6 Barred Rocks, and 6 Golden Reds. My amazing dh spent the weekend working on building our coop. We're building it 8' x 10', as we were expecting a few more roosters, which we are planning to put in the freezer. But I'm not sure now - they're almost 6 weeks old and only one is crowing. We thought another one was a roo, but maybe is just an aggressive hen?
Anyway, I am excited to be a part of this community now, and look forward to learning lots from you all!
