Hello all,

Our 2 1/2 year old daughter chose 3 baby chicks from o local farm in town. They are in our house right now and we are in the process of building a chicken coop. Our daughter loves taking care of them, especially holding them when they let her. She picked three different breeds, Buff Ordington, Black star, and Welsummer. What an experience it has been for her and the family. Our chocolate lab Rocky is still getting used to the new additions. Hopefully Rocky will learn to love and protect them, because he will be their body guard during the day.

Welcome to BYC, glad you decided to join us. Careful letting your dog be the bodyguard of your chickens. Many people, myself included lose chicks letting them hang out with the dogs. Even if they are playing dogs have sharp teeth that will puncture a tiny chicken body. Make sure all visits are supervised. Just mt two cents. Signed, learned the hard way.
