Hello From Nor Cal

Hi all, new to the forum and to raising chickens. No birds as of yet, but a coop build is in progress. I am pretending the reason is my daughter's FFA project, but I am really looking forward to some fresh eggs

My only experience with chickens for the past 25 years has been running the neighbors' birds out of my yard as they uproot my plants and generally create a mess. That, and the guy across the road has a hundred or so roosters. I am guessing the noise from a few hens won't be a problem.

Yes, I live in a very rural area. Chickens, horses, goats, sheep and cattle abound. And mosquitoes the size of a small child, LOL.

Thank you, but it is Nor Cal (as in Northern California). I have never been to NC, but have heard it is very nice.

Thank you. My oldest daughter decided to fly the coop and now resides in AL.
