My family and I are starting this as a family adventure/hobby in the coming months. We are welcome to any and all suggestions. We are thinking of starting with Leghorns after just a quick perusal of this site. Thanks for the welcome!

Nate, go through the forums, conduct searches, plan and you will be set to start your venture in the spring. If eggs are primarily your goal, there is no better breed than the many varieties of leghorns. They can be flighty and some have problems with this, but I find that it makes them more predator resistant and if handled properly their temperment can be mellow. For me a major plus is that I find them to be absolutely beautiful. Welcome to BYC.

Thanks for the response! Do you have any advice as to any books I should read, or will I find most of what I need here on the site? Thanks again.

! Great to have you here! In addition to what sourland recommended I would spend some time perusing the Learning Center tab - tons of great information. Good luck to you!!
