A neighbor gave my wife 5 Rhode Island Reds that are approx 4 weeks old. I know nothing about chickens so I will be here reading and hopefully learning a lot. My son told his mom that before she knew it she will be a full fledged chicken farmer. Looking forward to chatting with people in the forum btw this is the best site that I have seen

The Learning Center is a great place to start. To find people in your area go to "where am I , where are you?" so you can locate and post on your state thread. You may have chicken neighbors you have not discovered yet.

I've been searching this site for information since Feb and I can tell you the two books I bought about chickens paled in comparison to the helpful and informative people and articles at BYC. Best of luck.
