I've been lurking around here for a couple years dreaming of the day I could get my own backyard chickens. That day has come! Well, it came a few weeks ago. I got 8 chicks: 2 Delaware, 2 Speckled Sussex, 2 Salmon Faverolles and 2 Easter Eggers. They're so adorable, and just fascinating to watch.
The Speckleds are my faves, they are so sweet and friendly. I hope neither of them turns out to be a Roo, as we can't keep roosters (city ordinance). This was taken today:
From their first day experiencing the great outdoors (the 2 Faverolles, Delawares and either a Sussex or the brown Eagger) taken 10 days ago. I can't believe how much bigger they have got in just 10 days.
My grandmother used to have a flock and I've sorely missed having fresh eggs with amazing orange yolks. Looking forward to my little chickies growing up and laying some memories for another generation.
