Hello from north of Boston

We are family in Massachusetts. We got our first flock of 8 hens in March for eggs and as pets. We are having such a great time! I can’t remember what life was like before they were in it.

I have been reading my way through the board and site since February and decided to finally join the board because it’s so much fun. I also wanted to say “thank you” to the site owners and the members of this board because by following everyone’s great advice our flock has absolutely thrived. They are happy, healthy, and full of personality.

I’m glad I had the egg laying thread to keep me sane while waiting for our girls to start laying. One started two weeks ago (at 16 weeks). It took her another week before she gave us another one. Now three others have slowly started. The suspense is killing us!

Anyway, thanks to everyone for all the great advice. We have really appreciated it.

I am from the cape and I so know what you mean about the egg suspension. I switched to layer feed and wala I got my first two eggs, so excited I could burst,..thinking I should be embarassed to admit it too I am going to check out your blog
