Hi everyone,

I actually joined BYC a few weeks back and forgot to do this. Well my husband, five year old son and I have been bitten by the poultry bug! We love them!!! We have fourteen Australorps- we think hens but because we ordered them as babies- we may have a roo or two in there. We also have Silkies and Bantam Cochins on the way next week. We also have two Swedish Blue ducks and three ducklings (1 Pekin, 1 Khacki Campbell, 1 Mallard) We may have bit off more than we can chew as newbies, but we sure are having fun with them. We are blessed with a pole barn and three acres so that helps tremendously. We converted the once equine tack stall in to a coop for extra safety. The biggest problem we have right now is the ducks making a terrible mess in the coop with their water. We need to get their pen up pronto. Although the entire barn area is fenced pipe fence with three inch horse fencing. We are reluctant to let them out without us present because of hawks, but we may have to just for sanitary reasons. Anyway we love our chickens! We cannot wait until they start laying in June!!

Love our feathered friends!!

Karen
