Hello everyone! My name is Jose, I'm a freelance illustrator/fine artist based in a small city 20-30 miles northeast of San Francisco/Oakland. As long as I've been alive, I've always been a fan of chickens, and it's been my favorite food. Anybody who knows me well, knows that I love chicken so much. Recently, I've come to appreciate the thought of chickens as pets, although I've never owned any, it's been considered especially after my dog passed away at the age of 15 a couple of years ago.

One of my personal goals as an artist is to one day hold an exhibit, showcasing drawings and paintings of chickens only. About a month ago, I started travelling to local farms to take photographical references of chickens for possible drawings and paintings in the future. Attached are sketches that I've done within the last couple of weeks. I've been drawing my entire life, and these are the first of my chicken drawings. I hope you guys like them!

Anyways, I'm very glad I joined this website; I hope to learn about chickens from you all, as It seems that there's very knowledgeable people here, and I look forward to interacting with individuals who share the love of chicken.

Nice sketches, thanks for sharing them with us. I'd definitely go see an exhibit of all chicken art, hope that works out for you!

I'm sorry for the loss of your dog. You really should think about getting a few chickens of your own, you'd have your models available any time you want (and they are a lot of fun).

You do have talent and an obvious interest in getting your own flock. I agree with NorthFlChick, having your own chickens will be a fun adventure and offer you a different perspective on poultry.

Do explore the learning center articles and the forums to help you decide if raising your own is for you.

Feel free to ask questions. Hope you do decide to become a chicken keeper.
