I am new to raising chickens - have raised calves, horses, dogs and cats. We decided to get into chickens for the eggs, I did not realize how fast I would become "the chicken lady"! We started with 4 chicks - a golden laced wyandotte, silver laced wyandotte, welsummer, and red sex link. A couple days later my daughter and I went back to the feed store and had to have more so we added - red frizzle cochin, rhode island red, deleware and another welsummer. A week later and we now have black sex link, white silkie, and a silver sea bright. I also have 4 americaunas ordered to pick up this week for my granddaughter's for Easter. I also have 2 full grown roosters (not sure what they are) that were given to me by a friend who needed a home for them. Any input would be appreciated also I know there is a list of books, but which do people find the most informative and helpful?

You sound just like me....I ordered 30 cochin chicks, bought 6 Black Australorp chicks from feed store and have 60 eggs in 2 incubators right now. What we have is never enough. Good luck and glad you joined us
