hi everyone! so glad i found this website.

we live in northwestern PA, just bought 30 acres of land this spring. we are new to the wonderful world of chicken owners and are loving every minute of it. we are still learning about breeds and just starting to get eggs regularly (which is so exciting!!). i look forward to participating on these forums and perhaps meeting some in our region who might have advice and might be willing to trade in the future.

here is our current flock. they are all just now reaching maturity, except for the araucanas which we adopted recently and are mature.

• 10 silkies, including 4 friendly roosters (we didn't know so many would be roosters when we got the chicks)
• 1 blue salmon favorelle rooster & 1 plymouth rock rooster
• 1 white auracana & 1 brown-red auraucana
• 2 light brahmas
• 2 silver-laced wyandottes
• 1 buff-laced wyandotte
• 1 white-laced red cornish
• 1 speckled sussex
• 1 silver-laced cochin
• 1 buff orpington
• 1 cuckoo maran

haha my husband is already on top of that! pretty sure he wants to get ducks in the spring! no idea what breeds though, we'll have to look into that...

if you had told me a year ago i would have 25 chickens and ducks and who knows what else in the future, i would have told you you were nuts!
