Hi my name is Maria,I’m new to this site. I live in NZ. I have been owned by chickens for at least 6-8 years now. I started with a few brown shavers but soon got hooked on the heritage breeds. I live on a small lifestyle block with Husband,4 dogs, 1/2 doz sheep, two cows a deaf cat and two tanks of tropical fish.My chickens are very free range and get along with all of my animals, well not the . Currently I have 2 blue laced Wynandotte & 2 brown laced, 3 buff Sussex, 2 coronation Sussex, 3 Araucana. Then I have a mixed breed crew that were rescued from devastating fires we had in the area last year. I currently have one of my Araucana hens sitting on 15 fertile heritage eggs that are due today. I’m so excited . It’s my first attempt at hatching eggs. I did get a wee surprise two weeks ago. One of my x breed hens was hiding a nest of 15 eggs. Pleased to say 13 little chickens are now part of my pack. I have one rooster he’s from the mixed breed crew but looks very silkie I think. He’s going to be re homed as I don’t really want anymore surprises . I’m looking forward to being a part of this group as i have so much yet to learn and I do enjoy my chickens
