Hi! I was on Backyard Chickens years ago, but once the kids were in college I gave up my chickens. I now have 6 black sex-linked pullets. I am keeping 3, a friend will get the other 3 once they are large enough and she gets her coop built.
We used to house our chickens in our shed, but now I have a small coop I bought from the local farm store. It has a small run area, and I have a larger area to attach to it as well. I have modified the coop so I can have an automatic door opener. Works great on test runs so far! I installed a light on a timer to try to keep them laying in fall and winter. My previous chickens stopped laying for probably 6 months even though I had a light on in the shed. So I am hoping this works!
Glad to be back!
